Overview
Sunny Sky Products is seeking a Director of Manufacturing to manage our Midwest & Mid-Atlantic facilities. This role focuses on operational excellence, productivity, and growth, with emphasis on Safety, People, Quality, Service, and Cost. The Director of Manufacturing will oversee multiple plant operations, directly manage the Chicago Plant, and provide leadership and strategic guidance to plant leadership teams across the region. This position reports to the VP of Operations with a dotted-line to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing. Responsibilities
Perform all Plant Manager duties for the Chicago Plant. Develop and track key performance indicators (efficiency, OEE, yield, downtime, etc.) to measure and improve manufacturing performance. Build and mentor a high-performing Midwest/MidAtlantic manufacturing leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Lead all manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet production targets and quality standards. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure alignment with corporate goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP). Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Manufacturing and other departments (HR, R&D, Engineering, Sales) to align manufacturing with product development and market demands. Ensure the proper execution of the manufacturing roadmap in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions as directed by the Sr. Director of Manufacturing. Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction while maintaining quality and safety. Standardize maintenance, sanitation, and changeover processes to optimize uptime. Promote a zero-incident safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, and company quality requirements. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to prevent and address deviations and maintain audit readiness. Participate in strategic capacity planning and long-term site development. Oversee capital projects such as line expansions, technology upgrades, and new equipment installations. Coach Plant Managers to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures to optimize manufacturing expenditures. Track and improve manufacturing cost per unit, labor efficiency, and utility consumption. Lead cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety. Implement best practices to develop, support, and retain manufacturing team members across multiple sites. Lead, mentor, and develop Plant Managers and cross-site leadership teams. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Ensure proper succession planning for key manufacturing roles. Champion a culture that demonstrates Sunny Sky Products’ Core Principles. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred). Minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role within manufacturing operations, or 3 years leading multiple manufacturing locations. Proven track record of inspiring and motivating teams to achieve organizational goals. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and quality management systems. Ability to perform long-term project planning with meaningful timelines and budget forecasting. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments. Proficiency in leveraging data analytics and technology to drive operational improvements.
