The role will be based at the Related Beal office at 177 Milk Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities
Evaluate deployment and sourcing of security technologies in Related Beal assets. Collaborate closely with the Related Corporate Security Team and internal operational departments to minimize operational expenses to ensure all proposed security technologies are integrated and aligned with Related’s standards and operational requirements.
Develop a threat-based security posture including local crime analysis and current threat level to commercial, luxury and affordable sites. Liaise with Federal, City and State partners in the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts to assist in determining the appropriate security posture for the assets.
Participate in regular meetings with asset operation teams and the Related Corporate Security Team to address security/safety concerns of residents or commercial tenants and make recommendations for improvements for best practices.
Evaluate existing training and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Develop, implement and train on Emergency Action Plans, as well as develop and implement SOPs and conduct audits; oversee follow up. Develop training, hiring and supervising policy for all security and third-party security personnel while integrating the Related customer experience.
Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for any law enforcement inquiries or assistance. Lead and coordinate the response to any security incidents, ensuring business continuity and minimizing disruption; establish best practices for incident reporting, communications with all involved parties, data retention, data analysis, forensic video review/retention and maintenance of all electronic records consistent with Related corporate policy.
Establish and coordinate best practices for Special Events at or near any of the assets. Meet with asset managers, general managers, security vendors and event coordinators to address potential security risks impacting their operations as needed.
Act as a primary interface for security and technology deployment on new commercial projects and large rehab upgrades to existing properties. Oversee the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of security technologies such as CCTV, alarm systems, and access control platforms. Ensure data from surveillance systems is properly managed, stored, and analyzed for potential threats. Work with development team on vetting of security technology stack, ensure warranties and national pricing are applied.
Partner with the Related Corporate Security Team to verify all security vendors are properly vetted and meet compliance and performance expectations. Manage, coordinate and communicate with the security vendor representatives, prepare security operations budgets and oversee vendor billing and accuracy in collaboration with asset managers and accounting. Evaluate performance while mentoring individuals for improvement when needed or necessary.
Partner with the Construction Safety Director on all safety initiatives and trainings, as well as implementation of crisis management plans for construction sites and field offices.
Qualifications
20+ Years in Law Enforcement/Security field required, prior law enforcement experience preferred.
Must have served in a supervisory/command position for 10+ years
Must have strong law enforcement experience and executive contacts in the Boston, Massachusetts law enforcement community
Understand a corporate security environment and have knowledge of Access Control Systems, CCTV’s, Command Center Operations, Visitor Management Systems, Fire Command Operations, etc.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and present to C-suite personnel as well as tenant facility personnel and staff
Must have knowledge of physical security, guard force management, venue security, crisis management and business continuity
Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degrees and training welcomed
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to multi-task, shift direction easily, be proactive
Ability to work well under pressure and within a fast-paced work environment
Diligent, accountable and able to follow direction well
