Overview
Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a
Principal Platform Engineer / Linux
with well-rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join an agile product team. The ideal candidate will have experience in traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for on-premises infrastructure hardware, with experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies. The Principal Platform Engineer will be engaged in the design and implementation of system updates and upgrades with a focus on Linux Server / Linux OS expertise, interfacing with Sr. Management and the Customer for TEMs as required. This position is based in Aurora, CO, with work performed at a Colorado Springs Facility requiring weekly travel to the customer site and possible on-call/overtime.
What You Will Do Develop and communicate infrastructure implementation using company and industry best practices.
Maintain existing systems through Linux-based tools and manage the COTS stack to support program needs.
Assist in training junior engineers to support the Program/team.
Assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool (e.g., VMware).
Serve as a focal point for the equipment room (lab) to ensure computer network and storage resources are allocated and maintained for the program’s use.
Ensure COTS stack and versioning are consistent across the platform and update as needed.
Travel to customer sites to assist with system updates and deliveries when necessary.
Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires BS/BA in STEM (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Physics) and a minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).
Experience with VMware.
Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
Current TS/SCI security clearance is required on day 1. U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer Experience with Linux LDAP for accounts and permissions management.
Experience with Linux Bash scripting for automation.
Experience with modernization technologies (Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, etc.).
Experience with Windows OS and Networks; SAN/NAS designs and implementation.
Experience with Cisco IOS, Fiber Switch familiarity, Cisco Server Hardware/ILO remote management, Sun Microsystems server management.
