$80,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr Position Purpose As a Software Engineer Sr. Manager, you will be given a chance to contribute to the products we create, help grow the next generation of engineering talent, and help shape the technology strategy of the enterprise. In addition, you will work with strategic vendors to ensure that 3rd party tools and applications are readily available to all product teams interested in using them. The Sr. Manager must demonstrate the ability to lead managers and their teams and drive change management and process improvement. Key Responsibilities
20% Strategy & Planning: Develop and negotiate staffing of skilled engineering positions on product teams; contribute to strategic plans in support of key objectives in a timely and fiscally responsible manner; nurture strategic vendor relationships and influence vendors aligned to domain, portfolio, and enterprise objectives; evaluate new technologies for adoption across the enterprise; identify and demonstrate emerging technologies for product teams. 20% Delivery & Execution: Collaborate with product team members (UX, engineering, product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions; document and ensure quality and change control standards are met; write code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases; work with vendors and partners for tooling implementations; create dashboards, logging, and alerting to proactively address issues; contribute to enterprise tools for testing, automation, and engineering empowerment; participate in review boards to drive consistency; suggest improvements for operational excellence; fill in on product teams as needed. 15% Support & Enablement: Field questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams; monitor tools and foster collaboration across product teams; learn new technologies and best practices; provide production application support; act as technical escalation point for engineers. 45% People: Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Software Engineers; attract, retain, and develop top talent; conduct annual and mid-year reviews; foster collaboration to drive consistency across product teams; advocate modern software development practices; guide team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution; participate in learning activities; build relationships with technology leaders at other companies. Direct Manager / Direct Reports
Typically reports to the Technology Director, Sr. Director or Vice President. Travel Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time. Physical Requirements
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position; occasional movement or lifting of light articles may be required. Working Conditions
Located in a comfortable indoor area; unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Mastery of an object oriented programming language (preferably Java). Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications
6-8 years of relevant work experience. Mastery of a modern scripting language (preferably Python). Mastery of a modern web application framework such as Ruby on Rails, Spring MVC, and Node.js. Mastery of writing SQL queries against a relational database. Mastery of modern product development processes and pipelines. Proficient in troubleshooting, issue resolution, system monitoring, and log analysis. Capable of understanding complicated systems quickly; able to guide junior team members. Proficient in managing and growing team members; balancing workloads across teams; experience managing vendor relationships; translating high level strategy to tactical execution. Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field. Preferred Education
