(CBS) — a Donohoe Company. CBS is hiring HVAC Technicians in support of a large campus in Washington. Our HVAC Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems across campus facilities. This role supports a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient environment through skilled mechanical, electrical, and control systems work. The HVAC technician plays a key role in ensuring the physical integrity of building systems and responding to maintenance issues as needed. All shifts available: Monday–Sunday, 6 am–2:30 pm; 2:30 pm–10:00 pm; 10:00 pm–6:00 am. Salary range: $35.69–$43.26 per hour. Responsibilities
Oversee installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including:
Condensers, compressors, evaporators, motors, chillers, cooling towers Heat pumps, air handlers, fans, dampers, duct systems DX units, filters, valves, gear boxes, and associated piping Rebuild and repair both commercial and domestic refrigeration systems Perform preventative maintenance and minor fabrication work as needed Calibrate, adjust, repair, and operate pneumatic, electronic, and electrical controls Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic control systems Coordinate with the Building Management Systems (BMS) team to adjust system parameters including set points, schedules, and controller updates Install or replace control boards and wiring related to HVAC operations Ensure adherence to EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling, reclaiming, and disposal Follow all safety protocols when working with high-voltage systems or hazardous chemicals Maintain service logs and documentation in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards Respond promptly to urgent maintenance calls affecting HVAC or cooling systems Provide support for after-hours issues as part of a rotating on-call team when needed
Qualifications
Must be able to pass a background check to obtain site badge Experience with BMS systems and HVAC energy optimization strategies Ten (10) years experience working on commercial HVAC systems HVAC journeyman license preferred Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, preferred Knowledge of local and federal HVAC regulations Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS) Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, energy management systems, and refrigeration equipment Facilities Maintenance, or related field preferred Ability to complete maintenance and basic troubleshooting EPA/CFC Refrigerant Handling Certification required Completed coursework in HVAC areas Working knowledge of 480V and below electrical systems, HVAC and plumbing systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment Valid driver's license EOE, including disability/veterans.
