Barnes & Thornburg LLP Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a Patent Prosecution Engineering Associate to join our firm and nationally ranked Intellectual Property Department. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. A degree and background in mechanical engineering is required.
Responsibilities
Drafting and prosecuting patent applications Contributing to patent portfolio management Preparing patent opinion letters Advising on non-infringement and invalidity issues Conducting patent due diligence for corporate transactions and M&A matters
Qualifications
1–3 years of patent prosecution experience Strong background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications Mechanical engineering degree required Registered and in good standing with the USPTO Admitted to practice in IN, IL, MI, or GA or eligible for admission to the state bar
Preferred Experience
Managing patent portfolios Preparing patent opinion letters Advising on non-infringement and invalidity issues Conducting patent due diligence for corporate transactions and M&A matters
