Overview As our Software Engineering Director, you will lead a team of Software and SCADA Engineers, ensuring all project technical aspects align with BroadView and ENGIE standards while meeting established objectives. In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure long-term goals and priorities are integrated into project execution. You will also coordinate closely with EPC partners to align expectations and drive group objectives. This position can be based in Houston, TX or Denver, CO (Remote) and reports directly to the VP, CTO – ENGIE FlexGen NorAm.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Management: Lead and develop part of BroadView Software Engineering department. Direct, oversee, and manage Software engineering activities in support of new and existing projects. Develop and maintain, with assistance from other BroadView and Grid-Scale RFGBU team members as appropriate, relationships with engineering consultants and firms to deliver the engineering services required to support BroadView and Grid-Scale RFGBU business
Project Oversight: Oversee the technical aspects of all Controls Engineering for Grid-Scale Renewable activities, including energy storage, solar, wind, and grid interconnections. Ensure all solution proposals incorporate high-quality engineering designs addressing asset life cycle, process safety, constructability, and maintainability. Maintain and implement engineering and utility-scale renewable energy project standards
Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate with other BroadView departments to ensure a smooth transition of utility-scale renewable projects through the design, development, implementation and operations phase. Coordinate with internal departments (project management, resource assessment, etc.) and external consultants to optimize projects. Establish and maintain feedback loops with Project Delivery, Project Management and Support
Support Functions: Support requirement gathering, design and development and contracting processes
Team Leadership and Development: Identify, recruit, and manage full-time Controls engineering staff in annual business plan and as unexpected needs arise. Ensure continuous improvement and learning within the team through relationships, market outreach, and consultant engagement. Stay up to date on new project requirements, industry developments, trends, and technologies
Technical Guidance: Lead internal engineering support throughout project delivery, including engaging third-party consultants. Support development activities from mid-stage development through the start of operation. Develop and maintain relationships with engineering consultants and firms to deliver required services. Ensure all BroadView Operations & Project Delivery project and life cycle maintenance plans include appropriate engineering tasks, schedules, and budgets. Utilize ENGIE engineering resources from other Business Units to meet needs for expertise and cost minimization.
Business Continuity & Risk Management: Participate in the BroadView and Grid-Scale RFGBU Business Continuity and Emergency Response programs and facilitate appropriate plans across Grid-Scale RFGBU operations, including the proper addition of new facilities and operations.
Process Development: Establish and maintain a process for transitioning projects from Design to Delivery to Operation phases while de-risking projects from an engineering and technical point of view. Participate in the design of business processes that facilitate engineering design, commercial offers, project delivery, operational readiness, and ongoing O&M of Grid-Scale RFGBU facilities. Support and participate as necessary, in the development, review, and monitoring of operations, delivery projects, and development activities with the Senior Leadership of BroadView and Grid-Scale RFGBU Operations & Project Delivery.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering. In lieu of a degree, we will consider a combination of years of professional experience where you gained extensive, hands-on expertise in energy-related engineering activities
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in energy-related engineering activities is required. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly valued, and we welcome candidates with equivalent experience or other relevant certifications
You have significant experience in engineering management within energy-related activities, with a proven track record of delivering successful outcomes
You are an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, enabling you to manage and present complex information effectively
You are knowledgeable in analyzing and graphically displaying business, engineering, process, and operational data to support informed decision-making
You have superior problem-solving abilities, allowing you to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement across engineering and operational processes
You are results-driven, adaptable, and capable of thriving in fast-paced, collaborative environments
Additional Details
This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, three (3) days in-office and two (2) days remote
Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record, for the use of hire cars or personal cars when traveling, to drive to site locations and meetings
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation Salary Range:
$171,700 - $263,235 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
