Electronics Design Engineer (Senior or Mid-Level)

Location: Pleasanton, CA. This position is onsite. Overview

The Boeing Company is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) with a background in PCB design to develop innovative electronic solutions. Designs typically include microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs & CPLDs, power conversion, and various mixed-signal sub-circuits. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and test printed circuit boards for various applications. Responsibilities

Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications. Work with internal Boeing and external customers to gather and define design requirements, ensuring needs are met throughout the design process. Specify stack-up, dimensions, electrical characteristics, part selection, design tradeoffs, and final assembly of the Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA). Collaborate with program management to develop project schedules, estimates, and resource allocation for PCB design projects. Utilize PCB design software (e.g., Siemens Xpedition) to create schematics and analyze layouts. Collaborate with hardware engineers to define design requirements and specifications. Perform design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve PCB designs. Conduct signal integrity and thermal analyses (Siemens Hyperlynx) to ensure optimal performance. Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Create and maintain detailed documentation for PCB designs, including design files, assembly instructions, and test plans. Support prototype assembly and testing, troubleshooting issues during the process. Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies related to PCB design and manufacturing. Support Sustaining Engineering efforts on existing Boeing PCB and system-level products. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. Level 3: 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelors, or 3+ years with a Masters, or a PhD with related experience; Level 4: 9+ years with a Bachelors, 7+ years with a Masters, or 4+ years with a PhD. Knowledge in WHDL/Verilog Hardware Description Languages. Experience in circuit design, schematic capture and analysis with Mentor Graphics or other PCB design software. Proficient in simulation, modeling, and analysis of electronic hardware. Experience in digital design and/or FPGA implementation. Working knowledge of industry-standard interfaces including DDR3, DDR4, PCIe, I2C, SPI/QSPI, and JTAG. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 10+ years of PCB design and PCB assembly verification, debugging, troubleshooting, and repair. Expert level in VHDL/Verilog HDLs. Extensive knowledge of PCIe, DDR, I2C, SPI and Quad SPI protocols. Expert in simulation, modeling, and analysis of electronic hardware with FPGA experience. Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher. Education and Experience Levels

Level 3: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience or equivalent (e.g., PhD, Master + 3 years). Level 4: Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of related experience or equivalent (e.g., PhD + 4 years, Master + 7 years). Other Requirements

Onsite work required Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required); interim and/or final Secret Clearance post-start is required. Drug Free Workplace, with post-offer testing as per policy. Shift: 1st shift. Compensation and Benefits

Summary pay range (Level 3): $102,850 – $139,150; Level 4: $128,350 – $173,650. Base pay range found in job post; final pay determined by experience and qualifications.
