About the Team Our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice assists clients in assessing state and local tax burdens by recommending solutions that support their overall business objectives and ensure filing positions are consistent with good business practices and with the states' applicable tax laws and rules. Due to growth we're seeking a Manager to join our team.
How You Will Contribute
Manage complex state and local tax planning and compliance projects for corporate and pass-through entities.
Deliver state and local tax advisory services, including refund reviews, nexus studies, accounting for income taxes, voluntary disclosures, and tax minimization studies for income/franchise tax purposes.
Independently research and analyze a wide range of state and local tax issues and implications including apportionment methodology, unitary filings, and nexus considerations.
Regularly handle sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and property taxes.
Manage client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply tax technical knowledge to client situations.
Create deliverables that are concise, complete and address the elements deemed critical by the client.
Clearly communicate work plans, project objectives, and timelines to multidisciplinary project teams.
Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses; with opportunity to assume additional responsibility quickly.
Provide leadership, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associate and Senior Associate teams by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering a team-based atmosphere.
Manage workloads and deadlines for Associates and Senior Associates with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project team.
Manage multiple projects, client engagements and budgets simultaneously and efficiently; participate in the billing and collection process.
Encourage open expression of ideas and opinions, and actively seek opportunities for others to share diverse experiences and perspectives.
Assist with business development, including add-on work by creating business development resources and proposal materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
4+ years of experience with State and Local Tax
CPA or Licensed Attorney
Prior proven experience leading and managing work streams and mentoring junior staff
Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients
Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI)
Preferably experience with using Alteryx
Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines
High motivation to learn and grow
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills

The salary range is $110,000 - $140,000 annually, dependent on education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
