Kickstart your career as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer in a cutting-edge data center environment. This role offers recent graduates and junior engineers the chance to support the Project Manager and team leads in executing all mechanical aspects of Data Centre Commissioning. Responsibilities
Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules for electrical systems within the data center.
Coordinate pre-functional and functional testing of electrical equipment to ensure performance and safety.
Perform and oversee testing of low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) distribution systems, UPS systems, switchgear, PDUs, and emergency generators.
Validate grounding, bonding, and arc flash safety requirements.
Conduct load bank testing, infrared scanning, and system performance verification.
Ensure installations meet NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ASHRAE, and local regulatory standards.
Document test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions to meet client and regulatory compliance.
Participate in Factory Witness Testing (FWT) of major equipment such as switchgear, UPS, and transformers.
Work closely with design engineers, contractors, and operations teams to resolve installation and startup issues.
Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical and control systems (HVAC, BMS, EMS).
Act as a technical advisor to project managers and client representatives during commissioning phases.
Enforce electrical safety procedures (LOTO, PPE, arc flash hazard analysis).
Ensure commissioning activities are carried out safely in live environments with critical IT loads.
Prepare commissioning reports, test scripts, red-line markups, and system handover documents.
Maintain accurate records of system performance, test results, and warranty/startup information.
Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) for electrical systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Proof of education, licenses, and certifications may be required.
Prior internship experience in a related field is preferred.
Prior experience working in mission-critical environments is preferred.
Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Proven ability to work well in a team, share responsibilities, and support colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop innovative solutions.
Openness to learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
Receptive to feedback and willing to learn from others to improve performance.
