As an Electrical Commissioning Technician, you will play a crucial role in the commissioning of electrical systems for a high-tech manufacturing facility in Rio Rancho, NM. Your work will support the safe energization and functionality of systems during project startup, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. Responsibilities:
Review and approve Site Incident Prevention Plans (SIPPs) before system energizations. Perform energizations of circuit breakers, strictly adhering to all safety protocols. Conduct walk-downs and inspections of panels, MCCs, switchgear, and related systems. Coordinate panel shutdowns while maintaining operation of downstream systems. Verify torque settings, terminations, labeling, and grounding integrity before energization. Accurately document commissioning steps and outcomes per project guidelines. Collaborate with Quality, Construction, Safety, and Engineering teams. Support field troubleshooting and assist with turnover punch list efforts. Participate in daily commissioning coordination and site safety meetings. Report delays, hazards, or technical issues to the Electrical Discipline Lead or Commissioning Manager. Execute other electrical commissioning tasks as assigned. Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to your in your role. Skills Required: Minimum 3 years in electrical commissioning or construction support within high-tech (semiconductor preferred). Familiarity with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and LOTO standards. Proficient in interpreting one-line diagrams, schematics, and testing documentation. Experience with insulation resistance testing, breaker testing, and functional verification. Understanding of delta vs. wye 3-phase configurations. Ability to detect safety and quality issues before energization. Attention to detail and commitment to a safety-first culture. Education / Licenses / Certifications Journeyman Electrician license or Electrical Engineering qualification required. OSHA 10 is required; NFPA 70E training and valid certification preferred. Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
