Linux System Administrator III Location:

Responsibilities
Provide system administration support for Linux operating systems including installing software, applying patches, managing file systems, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts from monitoring tools. Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system, servers, hardware, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on servers, including system failure analysis and recovery, ensuring the consistency and integrity of file systems. In-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision. Responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems; review daily logs and ensure successful completion. Perform incremental and full backups/patching. Responsible for DoD Linux STIGs. Provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage and network uptime for the Linux servers. Provide general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers and coordinate with data center personnel to execute. Document and generate business processes for day-to-day and emergency support procedures. Install, test, and verify Linux Security patches; coordinating, documenting requirements and timelines, and working closely with service owners. Perform systems security administration functions, including creation and maintenance of customer profiles and accounts. Responsible for creating and/or maintaining standard operating procedures for the Linux documentation library. Implement, configure, update, and maintain Ansible servers and scripts. Implement, configure, update, and maintain STIG Manager servers and scripts. Implement, configure, update, and maintain the Linux operating system firewall.
Qualifications Education, Background, and Years of Experience
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Related Field Meet or Exceed IAT III 8570 baseline certification requirements RedHat or Ansible Certifications desired Strong background in RMF, STIG and compliance
Required Skills
Strong understanding of virtual and physical networking configuration Strong hardware, software and network troubleshooting skill sets RedHat 7, or higher, Enterprise administration, including workstation and server ACAS/Nessus experience or similar vulnerability scanner familiarity Experience using distributed file systems 5-7 years of experience
Preferred Skills
Ansible Puppet RedHat or CentOS
Working Conditions
Environmental Conditions: Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Strength Demands: Sedentary 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
