Mechanical Design Engineer Product Development & Manufacturing
A well-established, engineering-led manufacturer based in Traverse City, MI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their product development and manufacturing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a few solid years of experience who's ready to take the next step in their career. You'll play a key role in the design and engineering of industrial products used across a variety of sectors. The team is collaborative, hands-on, and focused on continuous improvement. What You'll Do: Own mechanical designs from concept through production launch Use SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) to develop parts, assemblies, and drawings Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, operations, and quality Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs Apply DFM/DFA principles and manage BOMs Help drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives Support new product introduction from concept through scale-up Create detailed inspection plans, test procedures, and technical documentation Troubleshoot design and production issues in collaboration with quality and operations What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 2+ years of experience in mechanical/product design, preferably in a manufacturing environment Familiarity with industrial or mechanical systems (machinery, capital equipment, etc.) Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.) Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerances, BOMs, and engineering documentation Bonus: experience with quality systems, inspection documentation, or metallurgy Why This Company?
