Locatedin Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, and have adesire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs andbackgrounds. This is a part-time,student employment position with no benefits.

The Student Assistant will act as a student ambassador and representativefor the Career Services office, with a focus on MassBay's mentoring programs.In this internship, the Student Assistant will build a comprehensiveunderstanding of how Career Services and our mentoring programs supportstudents and use this knowledge to effectively promote these services andprograms to the MassBay student community.

This may include engaging with students in-person and online, creating andmanaging social media content, developing and distributing promotionalmaterials, and providing training to student leaders and campus groups aboutour services and programs. In addition, the Student Assistant will provideadministrative and operational support to the Career Services office and asneeded, administrative support for the Student Development office. They willhelp manage Handshake, MassBay's job and internship platform.

The Student Assistant will offer their own insight and solicit feedback fromMassBay students on Career Services programming, materials, and operations.This student will assist the team with the logistics and execution ofcollege-wide events providing day-of in-person support for events as theirschedule allows.

This role will also enable the Student Assistant to pursue an independentstudy of a career/workforce development topic of personal interest and presenttheir project to the team. Individualized learning outcomes will be developedcollaboratively between the Student Assistant and supervisor.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: Act as a Career Services' student ambassador and representative, with a focus on mentoring programs. Develop a comprehensive understanding of Career Services and specifically MassBay's mentoring programs and use this knowledge to promote these services and programs to MassBay students through in-person and online engagement and peer-to-peer training; Create and share social media content and promotional materials to enhance office visibility; Assist with the planning, promotion and execution of Career Services and mentoring events and programming; Deliver administrative and operational support to the Career Services team including helping to manage Handshake (job and internship platform) and providing Student Development administrative support as needed; Provide outstanding assistance to students interested in and utilizing Career Services and mentoring programs, maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance with established conduct; Develop and deliver an independent career/workforce development project; Attend weekly 1:1 meetings with direct supervisor; and Other duties as assigned. Thislist is not to be considered all-inclusive. A supervisor may assign otherduties as required to meet the needs and foster the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:

Consistent and reliable work habits and communication; Strong attention to detail; Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and promote Career Services to MassBay students in-person and online. Preferred Qualifications:

Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action; Experience working in a community college or similar environment; Demonstrates commitment to working with students in need; Interest in Career Services, Higher Education, Operations, Marketing, and/or Event Planning; Ability to learn new technology quickly.
