We are seeking a candidate for an Interim CFO position to join a leading construction company based in Warwick, RI. This position will provide strategic financial leadership and operational oversight. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience within the construction industry, hands-on accounting expertise, and proven leadership to help the business strengthen its financial foundation and support ongoing growth.
This is a 4-6 month contract position that will pay $130-140/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour workweek. This position is required to be onsite 3-5 days/week in their Warwick office.
Responsibilities
Direct all financial and job cost accounting functions, serving as primary liaison with external accounting and audit firms.
Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, bonding companies, insurance providers, and benefits administrators.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
Oversee accurate, timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and industry requirements.
Manage risk across insurance and employee benefit programs to safeguard and optimize financial performance.
Oversee IT systems in partnership with an outside service provider, including implementations and upgrades.
Supervise and develop an accounting team of five employees.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within heavy civil construction, infrastructure, or a related industry.
Proven success in providing financial and operational oversight in mid-sized companies ($25M–$100M revenue).
Experience with Viewpoint accounting software and Bid2Win estimating software preferred.
Ability to quickly assess organizational needs and implement effective strategies in a short timeframe.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to partner cross-functionally with executives and project teams.
