Overview Chief Financial Officer – Construction – Rhode Island. We are seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial operations of a growing construction company. As a vital member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will play a central role in shaping financial strategy, driving sustainable growth, and safeguarding the company’s long-term financial health. This individual will provide executive guidance on financial planning, compliance, risk management, and operational performance, ensuring the organization is positioned for continued success.

Direct and oversee all financial operations, including job cost accounting, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors and accounting firms. Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, bonding agencies, insurers, and benefits administrators. Lead the full cycle of budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning to support company objectives. Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and industry standards. Oversee risk management across insurance, bonding, and employee benefits to protect the company’s financial health. Partner with external IT providers to optimize financial systems, including upgrades, implementations, and ongoing functionality. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team of five professionals. Experience with Viewpoint (accounting) and Bid2Win (estimating) software is strongly preferred. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred. Significant experience in senior financial leadership, ideally as CFO, within heavy civil construction, infrastructure, or engineering industries. Comprehensive knowledge of construction accounting, cost control practices, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated leadership, team development, and strong communication skills with a strategic, analytical mindset. Advanced expertise in financial systems, reporting tools, and enterprise software used in the construction sector.
