Position Summary The Mortgage Servicing Attorney will serve as the primary legal counsel for our mortgage servicing operations, providing specialized legal support and ensuring regulatory compliance across all servicing activities. You will work closely with the servicing team to navigate complex legal and regulatory requirements while minimizing risk and supporting our borrowers through the lifecycle of their loans. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of mortgage servicing regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide practical legal solutions in a fast-paced servicing environment. This position reports to the SVP Compliance, Corporate Counsel and is exempt from overtime. A hybrid schedule is available. Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive legal counsel on all aspects of mortgage servicing operations, including payment processing, escrow administration, loss mitigation, foreclosure, bankruptcy and borrower communications. Ensure compliance with federal and state mortgage servicing regulations, including RESPA, CFPB servicing rules, state foreclosure laws, and borrower protection statutes. Provide legal advice and oversight to business units on default and loan workout matters, including loan modifications, forbearance agreements, repayment plans, and short sales. Lead response to escalated borrower disputes, complaints, and related servicing issues, working to resolve matters efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance. Collaborate with the servicing operations team to address day-to-day legal questions and provide real-time guidance on complex servicing scenarios. Coordinate with other stakeholders to review and develop servicing policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including credit, lending and marketing teams to address legal issues and support business objectives. Conduct legal research on evolving servicing regulations and industry best practices, keeping the organization current on regulatory changes. Collaborate with external counsel in handling litigation matters related to mortgage transactions. Provide support in legal actions and ensure effective representation. Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees, promoting a culture of compliance and ethical behavior. Collaborate with key stakeholders to monitor vendor performance against contract terms and service level agreements, identifying and addressing any deviations or issues. Other legal and compliance oriented duties as required. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this role will have: Must be a licensed attorney with a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. At least 3+ years of experience practicing law in mortgage servicing, foreclosure, or related consumer finance fields. Strong knowledge of RESPA, CFPB servicing rules, state foreclosure procedures, and consumer protection laws. Experience with loss mitigation programs and borrower workout strategies. At least 3 days in office in downtown Chicago Behavioral Characteristics
