Overview AXA XL is seeking a Senior Professional & Pollution Liability Underwriter to join the North America Construction underwriting team. Our Construction Professional & Pollution Liability group delivers Professional & Pollution Legal Liability coverage to contractors and specialty buyers who may have global exposure. The Senior Underwriter will tailor a buyer's policy to fit each client’s unique needs and mentor junior staff as part of a high-touch, risk-management focused practice. You will report to the Head of Construction Professional.

Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business. Reviewing applications, terms and conditions, financials, and loss history; conduct research to determine the degree of risk for each account based on Professional & Pollution Liability regulations, guidelines, and delegated underwriting authority. Coordinate with internal divisions (Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, and others) to support the business. Determine quote or declination of risk. Calculate rates and premium charges using approved rating models. Develop and modify policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority when standard forms are not appropriate. Actively cross-sell afforded products and services. Support service standards in the delivery of professional and pollution liability construction products and services. Mentor, supervise, and motivate underwriters, underwriting assistants, and other team members. Lead and participate in special projects as assigned by senior management. Qualifications
Some to moderate commercial underwriting experience, or in-depth knowledge related to construction managers, general contractors, and trade contractors to contribute to the underwriting of Construction Professional accounts. In-depth underwriting expertise relating to solutions for construction managers, general contractors, trade contractors, environmental contractors, architects and engineers to contribute to Construction Professional accounts. Ability to work self-directed and as a collaborative team player, with strong listening skills to understand unique circumstances and craft practical solutions. Strong interaction with insureds and brokers, with the ability to target current and prospective contacts to promote offered products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external brokers; capable of assisting underwriters and deal administrators as part of a team. Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor's degree required; advanced education and/or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred but not required. Willingness to travel up to 25% as necessary.
