Civil Engineer, Mining (Independent Contractor) Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will join the

Mining

team, based in

Denver, Colorado, or Montana (Remote) . What a day at EXP has in store for you Preparing proposals for geotechnical services for civil engineering projects, including cost estimates and timelines; Providing geotechnical services to the Mine Waste unit, including modelling, analyses, design, investigations, and liaising with external labs; Conducting conceptual, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies for tailings and mine waste facilities; Planning and executing assignments requiring broad geotechnical engineering knowledge; Applying standard procedures and innovative methods to analyze projects; Coordinating with clients, suppliers, and third parties to meet project objectives, managing staff, contractors, scheduling, and budgets; Managing field activities, including investigations, monitoring, and testing on construction sites; Attending project meetings and conducting site inspections; Reviewing monitoring data from geotechnical instrumentation; Analyzing data and preparing technical reports; Collaborating with senior staff on complex issues; Conducting independent studies and analyses; Working independently with minimal supervision; Liaising with stakeholders including clients, contractors, and consultants; Continuing professional development and mentoring others.

What your experience looks like Bachelors Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering; postgraduate degree preferred; At least 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in consulting; 5 years of experience with Tailings, Dams, and Mine Waste; Experience with Dam and Safety Inspections; Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Experience developing scopes of work, ensuring standards, managing budgets, and reporting; Proven ability to manage multiple projects, mentor junior staff, and conduct complex investigations; Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving skills, and computer analysis proficiency; Valid drivers license and vehicle.
