Principal Simulation & Systems Engineer

The Principal Simulation & Systems Engineer will serve as the senior technical authority for the sustainment and modernization of the Command and Control Simulation Environment for Training (C2SET). This role requires deep expertise in software development, Modeling & Simulation (M&S), and C5ISR systems to design, develop, secure, and integrate complex mission-critical applications. The Lead Engineer will directly support the Government Program Manager, leading technical execution across multiple teams to ensure C2SET remains the premier Air Force simulation and training environment. Basic Requirements: B.S Degree 10+ years of relevant experience in software development with expertise in:
C++, Python, AFSIM, databases, and web application development. Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and RESTful architectures. 2+ years of experience in military mission planning, operations, and wargaming. 2+ years of relevant experience in simulation training at Air Operations Centers (AOCs).
Proven ability to architect, secure, implement, and lead software development for C5ISR and M&S environments. Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, DevSecOps pipelines, and full-stack development. Additional Qualifications: Familiarity with Air Force Modeling & Simulation systems and AOC Weapon Systems. Experience integrating with DoD federated simulation environments. Knowledge of predictive analytics, AI/ML/RL techniques for simulation enhancements. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Responsibilities: Support certification and accreditation activities for C2SET deployments Technical Leadership & Architecture
Provide senior-level technical expertise in architecting, developing, testing, and maintaining C2SET simulation and stimulation capabilities. Lead full-stack development efforts, ensuring alignment with Agile and DevSecOps practices. Oversee software code sustainment, modernization, database and algorithm development, and migration of legacy systems.
Software Development & Integration
Design, update, and replace software components, models, and simulations in coordination with Government technical leads. Ensure interoperability with Joint and Air Force simulation federations (ASCCE, ACE-IOS, AFSERS, JLVC, JLCCTC). Drive integration with AOC Weapon Systems and emerging C5ISR capabilities.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical leadership to development teams, mentoring engineers in modern software practices. Collaborate with other contractor teams, Kessel Run, and Air Force stakeholders on modernization and sustainment efforts. Support fielding and operational sustainment activities, including exercises and events worldwide.
Testing & Validation
Direct software validation, verification, and Agile test strategies. Ensure accuracy, realism, and currency of simulations to meet operational training requirements
