Frazer, a leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team. The Purchasing Manager at Frazer reports to the Vice President of Operations, and is responsible for managing the flow of materials, resources and information to ensure critical processes run effectively and efficiently and will achieve organizational goals and performance KPIs designed by the company. This position is accountable to improve on-time delivery of materials with accurate, realistic, and timely planning while proactively managing inventory turns and minimizing total landed material costs. The Purchasing Manager leads and manages the Planning, Scheduling and Purchasing teams to optimize the supply chain for quality and performance. Ensures project/department milestones and goals are met and will adhere to approved budgets. This position will also implement and enforce processes to maintain accurate and on time inventories, and will ensure purchased material receipts to approved specifications, with acceptable quality, and competitive pricing.
What Does a Week in the Life of the Purchasing Manager Look Like? Proactively manages employees, tasks, and operations priorities as needed to continuously improve on-time receipts and deliveries of purchased parts for production line, Service Repair orders, and parts shipments. Proactively analyzes and plans forecasted demand, vendor lead times, supply chain risk, and other factors, expediting when required, to minimize production material stock outs. Collaborates with the Service department to establish and maintain acceptable service levels and ensure on time delivery performance for spare parts and service repair parts. Implements processes and procedures to improve planning accuracy for production Job Operations, Fab Job Orders, PMA Job Orders, and purchased parts requirements. Monitors, evaluates, and analyzes price trends, freight options, and supplier performance to minimize material costs while ensuring adequate inventory levels. Develops and maintains a supplier scorecard and constructive relationships with key vendors, and negotiates and maintains favorable contracts for more complex purchases. Improves the speed and accuracy of the three way match accounting process by ensuring employees are properly trained to perform accurate and timely processes and system transactions related to, but not limited to, sourcing, vendor setup, item maintenance, purchasing, confirming, and expediting purchase orders. Monitors and updates purchasing-related dashboards daily to understand the order requisition and late order backlog and priorities for purchases. Supports internal customers (production, service, accounting, etc.) with timely and accurate responses to questions or requests while meeting team performance goals. Secondary Duties:
Verifies daily employee attendance to ensure that hourly employees are clocked in or that salaried employees are accounted for. If there is no record of an absent employee calling in, then notifies Human Resources. Ensures that daily huddles take place and clarify priorities daily for each team member. Participates in daily production meetings with department managers, supervisors, and team leaders to update on inbound materials status, resolve issues, and support service and production department supervisors/managers on their priorities and plans. Tracks, reports on, trains, and disciplines team members as needed with regard to controllable errors that impact the accuracy or the timeliness of purchase orders. Monitors and approves employee timesheets, paid time off requests, and attendance points. Implements, monitors, and reports on relevant Key Performance Indicators to demonstrate improvements for Frazer and to monitor the performance of each team member. Works with human resources to drive hiring, promotions, performance reviews, pay increases, and disciplinary actions for employees. Delegates effectively to maximize the best use of talent and resources available. Works creatively to resolve issues, overcomes obstacles, and meets production goals. Ensures teams have the personnel, tools, and supplies they need to meet objectives. Proactively addresses both internal and external customer concerns. Researches and implements process improvements with documentation and training. Becomes proficient with all job-related Frazer systems and processes, and becomes a coach and mentor to employees related to people, processes, and Frazer systems. Is consistently at work on time and ensures that work responsibilities are covered when absent. Arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Reads and responds to email daily. Performs all the above duties while adhering to safety policies and procedures. Monitor for, manage, and enforce safe work practices. Works closely with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team members to ensure adequate and timely response to hazards recognized or incidents that occur. Performs all the above duties while ensuring housekeeping is a top priority and enforcing compliance with Lean 6S principles to keep areas of responsibility clean, organized, and safe. Required Education and Experience: High School Education Diploma/GED required Ability to pass a background check and drug test. Work Schedule
The Purchasing Manager will work Monday to Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
