Staff Software Engineer, Frontend role at TwelveLabs.
Base pay range
$170,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr
Location and work arrangement
Hybrid role based at our San Francisco headquarters; remote work is available for candidates currently residing in California or Washington State. Remote employees will travel to the office for team meetups or other events as needed.

Role responsibilities
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of responsive and high-performance frontend systems using modern frameworks such as React and Next.js.
- Collaborate with software engineers, PMs, designers, researchers to implement user-centric design solutions for evolving video understanding models.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and optimization techniques to deliver high-quality frontend systems.
- Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to integrate frontend components and maintain an intuitive user experience for AI models.
Qualifications and experience
- Startup experience or experience thriving in a fast-paced environment; comfortable navigating rapidly changing priorities.
- Extensive frontend development experience (minimum 10 years) with React, Next.js, react-query, and TypeScript.
- Agile mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to adapt quickly in the AI technology landscape.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desired additional experience
- Familiarity with CSS frameworks like Tailwind and component libraries such as Material UI.
- Experience with design tools like Figma and working with an in-house design team.
- Unit testing with tools such as Jest and React Testing Library.
- REST API design and general frontend infrastructure understanding (CI/CD, build tooling, caching, optimization).
- Experience with enterprise-level products.
