Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and client-oriented Employee Benefits Account Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for employer clients, acting as a trusted liaison between the client and insurance carriers. You will manage renewals, market new benefit products, and educate clients on compliance requirements and plan options.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, a deep understanding of employee benefits, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Daily Responsibilities
- Client Management:
- Manage a book of business for clients, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and other ancillary lines of coverage.
- Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients.
- Serve as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers or vendors.
- Prepare materials for client meetings.
- Respond to client inquiries and issues, including claims and billing.
- Compliance and Education:
- Educate clients on compliance topics like ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and Health Care Reform.
- Develop and deliver communications to employees regarding benefits changes, enrollment, and renewals.
- Renewal and New Business:
- Manage the renewal process, including contractual changes and final placement communication.
- Market and place new benefit products, prepare client applications, and analyze carrier quotes.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Work with brokers on strategy development, plan modeling, and cost reduction.
- Conduct on-site benefit plan meetings.
- Champion cross-selling initiatives.
- Resolve client issues and provide ongoing support.
- Stay current on industry regulations, trends, and technology.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations (e.g., CEBS, ASP) preferred.
- Licensing: Active Life and Health license required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Experience: 2-5 years in commercial insurance sales or related roles.
Skills & Competencies:
- Understanding of employee benefits and ancillary coverage.
- Knowledge of compliance topics like ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and FMLA.
- Familiarity with agency and document management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
