**Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)**
**Location:** Central Vermont
**Shift:** 12-Hour Night Shift
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Women's and Children's Unit. The RN will provide exceptional care in a dynamic environment specializing in Labor and Delivery, Newborn, and Postpartum care. This position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our patients and their families, specifically in an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) setting.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during the labor and delivery process, including monitoring maternal and fetal norms.
- Manage patient care in LDRP, including the delivery of newborns and immediate postpartum care for mothers and infants.
- Assist with triage duties and maintain an appropriate nurse-to-patient ratio based on census and acuity.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and patient satisfaction.
- Conduct necessary procedures such as IV starts, lab draws, and post-operative care for C-sections.
- Play an active role in neonatal resuscitation, including the evaluation and administration of medications as needed.
- Perform documentation using the Epic electronic health record system and manage medications through the Pyxis medication system.
- Participate in unit-specific procedures and protocols to maintain quality control and safety standards.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery experience, inclusive of LDRP responsibilities, in a community hospital setting without on-site NICU resources.
- Current certifications in BLS and NRP; ACLS, PALS, and STABLE certifications preferred.
- Strong capability in handling the demands of an LDRP environment and experience in managing both obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
- Familiarity with the Epic documentation system is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and team members.
**Additional Information:**
- Nurses will float to other units as assisting hands, but will not take on primary assignments outside the Women and Children’s Unit.
- Mandatory participation in call rotations (2 shifts every 4 weeks), weekend shifts every other weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
- Orientation typically spans 3 shifts.
**Patient Population:**
The unit caters to a diverse range of patients, including laboring mothers, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
**Working Environment:**
The Women's and Children's Unit features 7 inpatient beds and 3 triage rooms, supporting approximately 300 deliveries annually. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with collaborative support and advanced care protocols.
