To lead global research for softs (agricultural commodities). Run the Global S&D and Trade Consolidation (including updates and estimates of global trade flow, trade matrices and global balance sheets). Monitor the crop situation on a regional level, including visiting farmers, benchmarking numbers against the industry and performing crop tours. Utilize balance sheet data, trade matrix data, ICE spreads data and physical basis levels to anticipate changes on global trade flow. Candidate must be proactive to work under minimal guidance, and be able to participate at a high level in trade discussions, shaping both cash and prop strategy.

Education, Experience and Skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or Agriculture.

7-10 years of experience as a Commodities Research Manager (Analyst experience will also be considered).

Expertise in dynamics of commodities production, trade flows and stocks flow globally.

Combine fundamental analysis and economic models to forecast ICE prices.

Monitor consumer retail demand and interpret how that impacts softs consumption.

Estimate the US/Brazil/Australian crop size and quality on a regional level and compare that with other market estimates.

Maintain US Cost of Production values to gain insight on acreage and relevant ICE levels where acreage switches might occur.

Forecast trade flows based on relative values.

Manage a Global team of 2–3 employees.

Work within a global team to manage the world S&D and help identify trading opportunities.

Consolidate the information from regional research offices.
