Position Summary The Director of Strategic Communications & Community Engagement at OSM is responsible for developing and leading integrated communication strategies that strengthen the organization’s reputation, promote community partnerships, and support internal engagement. This role oversees both internal and external messaging to ensure consistency, transparency, and alignment with organizational values. The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator, experienced in media relations and crisis response, who can serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and a connector between the organization, its people, and the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities External Communications & Brand Messaging
Develop and lead the OSM’s public relations strategy, media outreach, and brand reputation efforts.
Create compelling press releases, executive messaging, and thought leadership content that reflects our mission and values.
Serve as the point of contact for media inquiries, cultivating trusted relationships with local and regional outlets.
Collaborate with marketing and brand partners to ensure consistent messaging across digital, social, and partner-facing channels.
Optimize engagement on LinkedIn and other Community Management platforms to elevate visibility among professional and healthcare audiences.
Internal Communications & Culture Building
Lead OSM’s internal communication strategy to foster transparency, employee engagement, and alignment with organizational goals.
Lead and oversee the creation and distribution of internal newsletters, executive and intranet updates, and organization-wide events (e.g., town halls, and all-hands meetings).
Partner with HR to communicate key initiatives including benefits, leadership transitions, and organizational change.
Ensure all messaging is timely, inclusive, and reflective of our values and culture.
Draft talking points, FAQs, leadership scripts, and internal memos to support consistent and confident communication.
Lead and/or support internal crisis communications to ensure clarity, empathy, and alignment during urgent situations.
Measurement & Optimization
Define and track communication KPIs including: engagement metrics, media reach, and internal sentiment scores.
Evaluate and continuously optimize communication channels and methods based on stakeholder feedback and performance data.
Monitor brand sentiment, identify emerging risks, and proactively advise leadership on response strategies.
Qualifications Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Certifications in change management, internal communications and engagement, or crisis communication are a plus.
Experience & Skills
8+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, including leadership in both internal and external communication strategies.
Experience in healthcare, MSO environments, or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to build strategic communication programs from the ground up and support executive voice, visibility, and engagement.
Success Metrics
Employee engagement scores and internal communication effectiveness indicators
Media impressions, share of voice, and message consistency, quality of earned media placements
Internal adoption of key initiatives and demonstrated alignment with mission, vision, and values
