Senior Software Engineer - Monitoring (Lead)Location: Cincinnati, OH - OnsiteAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Monitoring IV to serve as a technical andleadership lead for a new engineering team focused on application monitoring, observability,and reliability. This is a unique opportunity to establish monitoring standards and shape thedirection of enterprise-scale systems for a national bank. The role requires both hands-ontechnical expertise and the ability to mentor engineers, drive cross-team collaboration, andlead the adoption of monitoring best practices across the organization.Key Responsibilities•Serve as the monitoring lead, establishing vision, standards, and strategy forobservability.•Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.•Collaborate with product, DevOps, and security teams to align monitoring initiative swith business needs.•Design, implement, and optimize monitoring and alerting systems across hybrid environments.•Build automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce manual interventions.•Lead integration of monitoring solutions with CI/CD pipelines and enterpriseapplications.•Drive incident detection, triage, and root cause analysis (RCA).•Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to ensure system reliability.•Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.Required Skills•Proven leadership experience in mentoring and leading technical teams.•Strong expertise in application monitoring, observability, and logging platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, or similar).•Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems and scripting (Bash, Python).•Strong knowledge of Java/Spring Boot applications and performance monitoring.•Hands-on experience with AWS cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, etc.).•Familiarity with messaging/eventing systems (Kafka, MQ).•Strong troubleshooting skills in networking, APIs, and distributed systems.Preferred Skills•Financial services or highly regulated industry experience.•Expertise in container monitoring (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift).•Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible) for monitoring automation.
