A Glimpse of the Job
The Onboarding Specialist I is an entry level position in which incumbents are learning all the functions of onboarding to provide routine support in areas of hiring and onboarding once an offer has been accepted. This support includes handling processes related to background checks, degree/credential verification, I-9 completion, and employee record management in Workday. In addition, under general supervision, monitors employee records for the duration of the employee’s life cycle to ensure compliance USCIS guidelines as they relate to work authorization and identity verification. Assists in facilitating all aspects of onboarding events, including event communications, logistics, coordination, and implementation.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Onboarding Event Process and Logistics - Supports the onboarding operation utilizing different systems to ensure new employees can Onboard on their hire date. Learns how to and assists in facilitating the Onboarding Sessions simultaneously for both Students/GAs and Staff/Faculty. Interacts with new hires during onboarding sessions and provides a welcoming environment for all employees. Reviews and processes actions related to new hires, transfers, and other employment actions to include E-Verify, Sterling, Workday, Guardian, Laserfiche, and Texas A&M University System Universal Identification Number (UIN), and any other software or system needed to fulfill responsibilities.
HUB Support - Provide guidance to onboarding student workers on background check processes. Liaisons with HR personnel to support the processes for Background Investigations, Credential/Degree Verifications, I-9 and E-Verify support and processing, UIN processes and other tasks and process related to the onboarding of employees. Monitors the ticket system, emails, and phones to answers routine questions related to Onboarding processes. Partner with other HR functions to ensure smooth onboarding. Escalates issues as required.
Professional Development - Attends and participates in meetings and activities to obtain knowledge and skills and transfer learning to others in the workplace. Completes training to stay apprised of laws, rules and regulations related to Talent Management and Onboarding and current and future applications and processes.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of human resources related experience.
