Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a

Bankruptcy Paralegal

to support its nationally recognized, creditor-focused bankruptcy and restructuring practice. This role provides comprehensive support on high-profile matters, including document preparation and filing, claims management, hearing support, and client communication.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with bankruptcy filings and court procedures, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a key role in complex Chapter 11 and restructuring matters.

Responsibilities

Prepare, file, and serve pleadings in New Jersey and federal bankruptcy courts nationwide.

Monitor and track case deadlines, applying local court rules and jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Manage case calendars, task lists, and date trackers for complex matters.

Draft and file proofs of claim; monitor claim activity and assist with claims reconciliation.

Prepare court filings, including retention and fee applications.

Maintain organized case files and billing records; assist with preparation of fee applications.

Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and outside professionals on case developments and projects.

Review and summarize court dockets; distribute updates to attorneys and clients.

Coordinate hearing logistics and compile hearing materials.

Provide support for hearings and trials, including preparation and logistics.

Respond to creditor inquiries and assist with client communications.

Perform legal and market research, fact-checking, and transaction support.

Handle additional duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree required; paralegal certificate preferred.

Minimum of 6 years of substantive bankruptcy experience, ideally within a law firm. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Deep familiarity with bankruptcy procedures, pleadings, and claims reconciliation.

Proficiency with CM/ECF electronic court filing systems in New Jersey and federal bankruptcy courts.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.

Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
