Overview

The Market President / Senior Commercial Lender is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the bank’s commercial lending portfolio within a designated market. This role combines relationship management, business development, and strategic leadership, overseeing a team of commercial lenders while building strong relationships with key clients, referral sources, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Client Relationship Management: Develop, manage, and expand relationships with commercial clients, community leaders, and referral sources to drive new business and strengthen market presence.

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee a commercial loan portfolio, ensuring high-quality underwriting, asset performance, and compliance with regulatory and bank policies.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of commercial lenders, fostering a high-performance culture focused on results and client service.

  • Strategic Market Leadership: Serve as the bank’s senior representative in the market, identifying growth opportunities, monitoring economic trends, and positioning the bank competitively.

  • Credit & Risk Oversight: Collaborate with the credit and underwriting teams to review loan structures, mitigate risk, and maintain asset quality standards.

  • Operational Collaboration: Work with internal departments, including operations, treasury, and retail banking, to ensure seamless delivery of products and services to commercial clients.

  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in local business, civic, and professional organizations to enhance the bank’s visibility and reputation.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial lending experience , with a proven track record of relationship management, deal origination, and portfolio leadership.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience , including managing teams of lenders or bankers.

  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, risk management, and financial analysis .

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills .

  • Ability to strategically plan for market growth , balance risk and opportunity, and influence internal and external stakeholders.

Physical Demands / Conditions / Equipment Used

  • General office environment with local travel for client meetings and community engagement.

  • Standard office equipment and technology for communication, reporting, and portfolio management.
