Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the DoD and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies, particularly integrated communications, networking, and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies, to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach, the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering, cybersecurity, operational integration, and data analytics, all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies.
This role is part of a pending contract proposal. We are actively interviewing to identify qualified candidates in anticipation of a successful award.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Supports innovative research and technology development using deep understanding of AI and ML technologies in accordance with relevant DoD policies and DoD AI Ethical Principles.
- Provides strategic assessments of new and current technologies to support senior decision-makers while conducting background research evaluating feasibility and defense applications of new concepts.
- Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets.
- Researches, designs, and develops advanced AI; develops AI/data science solutions; applies AI/ML techniques to improve algorithms.
- Provides analysis, requirements and algorithm design, implementation, integration, verification, and maintenance of AI software systems.
- Collaborates across multi-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving IT services enterprise and the modeling/simulation environment.
- Maintains knowledge of software systems, AI, deep learning, design methods, and system-of-systems architectures; understands cloud computing, containerization, parallelization, databases, and Git.
- Participates in algorithmic design and ML frameworks, including classification and targeting techniques.
- Follows development operations procedures such as source control, change management, and release planning. Integrates AI techniques with Modeling and Simulation applications.
- Ability to self-manage and pace responsibilities to ensure timely completion of activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 15 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in related field; 13 years with a Master’s; 10 years with a PhD or JD; or a High School Diploma/equivalent with 19 years relevant experience.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo.
- Prior experience with military or aerospace platforms.
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
