Job Responsibilities

This role supports innovative research and technology development using deep understanding of AI and ML technologies in accordance with relevant DoD policies, DoDI , and DoD AI Ethical Principles. It provides strategic assessments of new and current technologies to support senior decision-makers while conducting background research in evaluating the feasibility and the defense applications of new technological concepts.

It creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as addressing a business issue or providing an intelligence advantage for the organization. It researches, designs, and develops advanced AI; develops advanced solutions at the intersection of AI and data science. It applies AI/ML techniques to improve existing and newly developed algorithms. It provides analysis, requirements and algorithm design, implementation, integration, verification, and maintenance of AI software systems. It collaborates across multi-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving the IT services enterprise. It exercises a strong knowledge of software systems, AI, Deep Learning, design methods, and system-of-systems architectures. It understands supporting technologies, including cloud computing, containerization (for deployment), parallelization (for training), databases (for training data), and Git (for code management). It collaborates across multi-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving the advanced engineering and modeling and simulation experimentation environment and solutions. It participates in algorithmic design and ML frameworks, including classification and targeting techniques. It understands and follows development operations procedures such as source control, change management, and release planning. It integrates AI engine/techniques with Modeling and Simulation applications. It can self-manage and pace responsibilities to ensure completion of activities in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in related field; 7 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or 13 years relevant experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
• Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation.

Preferred Requirements

• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo.
• Prior experience working with military or aerospace platforms.
• Master’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
