Join IMEG as a Fire Protection Engineering New Grad in Fairfax, VA, and help design systems that protect lives and property in today's most advanced facilities. From high-rises and data centers to schools and hospitals, you'll assist in designing sprinklers, clean agent suppression, fire pumps, standpipes, and integrated fire alarm systems. Using hydraulic and fire modeling software with BIM, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions - with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one.
Principal Responsibilities
- Design and analyze fire alarm, suppression, and smoke control systems per code and IMEG standards
- Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Support project planning, scheduling, and execution
- Document design decisions and monitor progress
- Analyze engineering tasks and propose solutions with senior support
- Participate in IMEG quality control processes
- Stay current with fire protection trends and contribute to R&D
- Prioritize safety and identify risks in fire protection systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
- Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Water-Based Systems Layout preferred
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of thermodynamics, fire dynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as they relate to fire protection systems design in fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems for buildings
- Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including hydraulic simulation and intelligibility software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
- Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Locations available
Fairfax, VA
Salary Range $75,000 - $77,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
