We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Power Electronics Engineer to drive the development of advanced electronic systems for next-generation mobility platforms. This role offers the opportunity to lead power conversion design efforts from concept through production, ensuring robust, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

This is a full time, onsite position in Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for power conversion PCBA development, overseeing design, validation, and production ramp.
  • Design integrated, cost-optimized systems in the 48–100V, 1–10kW peak power range.
  • Define schedules, milestones, test plans, and manage contract manufacturer engagement.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering to establish product requirements for cost, performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Perform simulations, circuit analysis, and validation, including worst-case analysis.
  • Select and characterize key components, execute schematic capture, and guide PCB layout for power, control, and auxiliary circuits.
  • Partner with firmware and controls teams to ensure seamless hardware integration.
  • Support functional safety efforts by developing diagnostic and protection circuits.
  • Develop DFMEA, PFMEA, and validation documentation.
  • Lead hands-on integration and testing, coordinating with internal teams, external labs, and manufacturers.
  • Contribute to thermal, EMC, reliability, and NVH testing.
  • Provide technical updates and progress reports to project stakeholders and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power electronics/power systems.
  • 8+ years of experience in power electronics design (traction inverter experience preferred).
  • Strong background with BLDC actuators and position sensing technologies.
  • Expertise in power switches (MOSFET, GaN, SiC).
  • Solid understanding of analog and digital electronics, including microcontrollers and common peripherals in power applications.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as LTspice, PLECS, and MATLAB.
  • Practical experience with lab equipment up to 1kV.
  • Proven track record of delivering power electronics products to market.
