The unit has 29 beds but can overflow to accommodate adults in the pediatric unit for a total of 39 beds. When at capacity, a charge nurse is called. Staffing consists of 8 RNs and an ACT during day shifts from 10am-10pm, and similar staffing on night shifts. Patient-to-nurse ratio is 5:1. The unit is equipped with remote telemetry. The electronic medical record system in use is MediTech. Typical patient population includes post-op surgical patients. Ton of cardiac drips such as amiodarone and diltiazem are managed, along with heparin drips. The ideal candidate should be a hard worker with a fun personality and high energy.
