The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of Bergen Family Center (BFC), responsible for setting strategic direction, overseeing all operational and administrative functions, and ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission to serve families, youth, seniors, and underserved populations in Bergen County. The CEO is the primary public representative of the agency, forging key relationships with funders, partners, and public officials while ensuring internal excellence in leadership, service delivery, and long-term sustainability. While day-to-day tasks may be delegated to senior staff, the CEO remains accountable to the Board of Trustees for all aspects of the organization's operations. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Vision Provide strategic leadership aligned with BFC's mission, values, and long-term goals. Cultivate a strong organizational culture of fairness, accountability, and collaboration. Lead long-range strategic planning efforts in partnership with the Board and leadership team. Fundraising and External Relations Serve as the public face of BFC, maintaining and strengthening relationships with donors, government agencies, community partners, and philanthropic institutions. Develop and execute fundraising strategies—including major gifts, grants, and capital campaigns—in partnership with the Director of Development. Ensure the timely submission and renewal of high-quality grant proposals that align with funding priorities. Leverage existing networks and strategic contacts to expand BFC's visibility and fundraising outcomes. Staff and Organizational Management Lead and support a high-performing senior leadership team with oversight of Human Resources, program administration, and financial operations. Conduct regular management meetings to ensure alignment, communication, and collaboration across departments. Foster a healthy workplace culture that values staff well-being, professional development, and equity. Supervise and ensure the implementation of internal policies and procedures, including those related to legal and regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with employment laws, contracts, and HR standards. Program Oversight and Service Delivery Ensure that all programs and services align with BFC's mission and meet the diverse needs of the communities we serve. Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and service contracts. Ensure consistent program quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all service areas. Lead initiatives that promote innovation, responsiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction in service delivery. Financial Oversight Oversee organizational budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal accountability in collaboration with the Senior Director of Finance, Board Treasurer, and Finance Committee. Manage financial risks and ensure long-term sustainability through diversified revenue streams and sound controls. Work closely with independent auditors to maintain best practices and transparency in financial reporting. Partnership and Expansion Strategy Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other social service organizations and educational institutions to identify opportunities for service expansion. Work with public officials and key stakeholders to advance BFC's policy and advocacy goals. Support efforts to expand BFC programs to new communities and build long-term, sustainable revenue models. Build trust and relationships with clients, families, and communities served by BFC. Board Engagement and Governance Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to align strategic priorities, report outcomes, and support effective governance. Schedule and participate in meetings with the Executive Committee and senior leadership team. Provide the Board with regular written and verbal reports on program impact, financial health, and organizational progress. Public Relations and Communications Oversee the development and execution of public-facing communications, branding, and media relations to enhance and protect BFC's reputation. Develop and implement social media, digital, and print outreach strategies to enhance the organization's mission and visibility. Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, social services, or human services organizations. Strong business acumen and ability to manage a $10-million budget. Demonstrated success in fundraising, board relations, community engagement, and organizational leadership. Established relationships with philanthropic, government, and peer agencies in Bergen County or the surrounding region. Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree, or equivalent experience in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field. Working knowledge of nonprofit operations, budgeting, HR management, and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage complex budgets, and deliver measurable impact in a mission-driven environment—excellent interpersonal, communication, and strategic planning skills. Terms and Conditions Full-time, exempt executive leadership position. Reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The Board will determine the salary and benefits package, commensurate with the individual's experience—annual performance review conducted by the Board of Trustees.
