This position is responsible for music at all liturgical and non-liturgical celebrations; the training, development, and preparation of cantors, musicians and choir members; and all administrative functions associated with the position. Job Responsibilities

Selects music and musicians for all liturgical activities, in keeping with the preferences of the Pastor/Administrator, and accompanies preferably with organ and/or piano. Recruits, trains, and rehearses cantors, musicians and choir members, both adult and youth. Oversee input of music information in computer for all Church liturgies utilizing screens. Coordinates music and normally acts as accompanist for funerals and weddings. Teaches new music including Gregorian chant, hymnody, popular liturgical songs, and contemporary “praise and worship” selections, according to Church liturgical guidelines and norms. Promote and direct an adult choir to include weekly practices and special rehearsals as needed. Promote and direct a children’s choir to include weekly practices and special rehearsals as needed. Continues own personal growth and learning in the area of sacred music and creates new ways to implement that learning within the parish. Demonstrates a passion for and love of liturgical music and works to instill that in the music ministers and parish community. Works with staff to coordinate liturgy and rehearsal schedules, bulletin music pages and announcements, publicity, etc. Maintains organized and updated music files. Prepares and is responsible for Music budget. Provides accurate copyright information and coordinates all financial responsibilities. Organizes and maintains all equipment used by musicians including but not limited to organ, piano, microphones, stands, sound system. Performs any other duties as directed by the pastor/Administrator.
