We are an Independent Christian Church where our elders and ministry staff lead our Cicerofam in the direction of Jesus-centered living. About the Position
Position Description
Core Responsibilities Preach: Prepare and deliver a weekly sermon to the congregation. Messages should be Biblically sound, prayerfully prepared, and delivered in an appropriate manner that energizes the congregation. Advanced planning and communication of themes is preferred, and occasional guest speakers may be utilized. Ministry Staff Development: Lead, direct, and motivate the ministerial staff to fulfill the vision of Cicero Christian Church. Promote a culture of energy and excitement for this vision among ministerial staff, administrative staff, and the congregation. Leadership Team Development: Engage with elders individually and as a group to build and maintain trust and stay in close communication. Vision Casting and Refreshing: Keep leaders and the church family focused forward, toward becoming the church God established CCC to be. Community Partnerships: Spend intentional time with community leaders and people of influence to explore opportunities for community betterment and to open doors for the gospel. Discipleship Development: Equip, train, and release men and women to be disciple makers who reproduce disciple makers. Shared Responsibilities Pastoral: Visitation and availability for calling on new and potential members; partner with elders and staff to visit hospitalized and homebound individuals, particularly those not under the care of a Micro Church. Pre-Counseling: Be available for counseling on a limited basis and be prepared to offer referrals to other counseling opportunities, both within and outside the Church. Weddings/Marriage Preparation Funerals Accountability The Senior Pastor functions as an Elder and, like all other Elders and Staff, is accountable to the group of Elders who oversee the church. In the first year, the Senior Pastor serves as an Apprenticing Elder; after one year, the Elder group affirms the Senior Pastor who fully assumes the role of Elder. Model the values of CCC: Spirit-Led – grow in awareness of and obedience to the Holy Spirit. Self-Fed – invest time in knowing who you are as a child of God and what Jesus values. Servant Leadership – use your influence to serve others by meeting their needs. Relational IQ – practice healthy interpersonal communication and conflict management, and encourage others. Courage – develop vision and take steps toward it while balancing vulnerability and boldness. Embrace and encourage mutual accountability within the church family. Participate in or lead a micro church. Participate in or lead a discipleship group. Participate in “all hands on deck” outreach events. Spend, on average, 50 hours per week in ministry-related service. Take one spiritual retreat day per month. Take one 3-day spiritual retreat per year.
