Advocate - SUNY Cobleskill Liberty Partnerships Program - SUNY Research Foundation The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill is an accredited polytechnic college that is primarily baccalaureate and residential. SUNY Cobleskill is one of few institutions in the United States where an undergraduate student may also choose to earn an associate degree. The College has an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students in 59 programs divided into two schools, Agriculture and Natural Resources; Business and Liberal Arts & Sciences. An economic engine for rural New York, SUNY Cobleskill is home to a wide array of extended learning and professional development opportunities. Responsibilities

The Advocate position will be located at the Schoharie Central Jr/Sr High School and involves the delivery of services in the areas of academics, social/emotional development, life skills, goal setting, mentoring, leadership, service learning, and college and career readiness.

Represent LPP in the school building and larger district; interact with district personnel; understand and adhere to district policies; advocate for LPP youth in the district.

Delivery methods include one-on-one or small groups during the school day, field trips, workshops, and occasional after-school and evening events.

Engage parents/guardians; refer youth and families to appropriate services; adhere to NYS mandates reporter policies and SUNY Cobleskill's Child Protection Policies; maintain confidentiality.

Complete personal learning plans with students; conduct a social-emotional assessment with students; maintain accurate records of student and family contacts; submit data in a timely manner.

Attend professional development; coordinate delivery of services with LPP and district staff; perform other tasks as necessary to meet goals and objectives of the LPP and the individual students and families it serves.

Report directly to the LPP Project Director; demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (active listening, empathy, dependability, genuineness, patience) and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree

1+ years of experience working with adolescents

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

1+ years of experience working with adolescents in a school setting

Additional Information

Hourly Rate: $17.30/hour

Part-Time: 30-35 hours/week

Annual Length of Assignment: 10-months (September-June)
