Job Description:
SUNY Schenectady County Community College is looking to hire a full-time Program Assistant for their Liberty Partnership Program. Reporting to the Director of Liberty Partnership Program (LPP), the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with program development, student recruitment, student workforce development planning, enrichment activities planning, and collection of relevant student data. They will carry a case-load of students and be responsible for completion of social-emotional assessments and Personal Learning Plans.This is a 12- month professional (unrepresented) grant funded position.
Responsibilities:
Provide a physically, mentally and emotionally safe place for all LPP students. Assist with the planning of activities for students attending the program according to grant outcomes. Assist with recruitment efforts at partnering schools. Oversee the STARS Mentoring Program Work with students to complete their Personal Learning Plans and Social-Emotional Assessments. Follow and uphold the student code of conduct. Assist with Home Visits. Communicate with parents when necessary. Track and submit monthly attendance and service records. Assist with summer programming. Attend and chaperone LPP field trips. Attend regular staff meetings. Some weekends and evenings may be required. Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Human Services or similar field. Experience working with at-promise youth in a school or afterschool setting. Ability to travel to all partner schools, SUNY Schenectady and partnering agencies throughout the Schenectady area. Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Critical thinking skills and sound decision making. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency of basic computer skills including word processing, e-mail, internet, databases, and spreadsheets as well as Google tools (i.e. Google Docs, Google Meet and Google Sheets) Preferred Qualifications:
Trauma-informed training and or experience preferred. Capable of facilitation/leading activities and lessons. Please note:
As a condition of employment, all applicants must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting process through the New York State Education Department. Clearance is required in order to work in any K-12 school setting in New York State.
Special Information:
This is a grant funded position Some weekends and evenings may be required. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts and certifications.
