Job Summary

Newark Unified School District seeks a strategic, visionary leader to serve as its next Chief Business Officer (CBO)/Assistant Superintendent Business Services. This executive role is critical to ensuring the fiscal health and operational excellence of a dynamic district serving approximately 4,400 students, 600 employees with an annual operating budget of over $80 million, and managing $205 million in bond-funded modernization projects. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in school finance, operations, facilities, and asset management. They will provide transparent, forward-thinking financial strategies that align resources to support student achievement, equity, and innovation. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are essential as the CBO serves as a trusted advisor to the Superintendent, Board of Education, and Cabinet fostering strong partnerships across the District and community.
