This position is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and testing code as part of the software engineering development lifecycle. The person at this level has in-depth knowledge and experience to solve complex problems using subject matter expertise and collaborative skills. Works independently with the ability to mentor, groom less experienced staff. Responsibilities / Duties
Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens core values, ethics, and information protection policies. Design, develop and/or test complex software component changes in one or more engineering stack (UI, Servicing, Integrations, Automation, Testing, etc.) meeting acceptance criteria while adhering to development and quality standards. Research, analyze, design and solve complex problems with creativity and innovation. Own and present SDLC and DevSecOps deliverables to maintain software standards and guidelines. Collaborate with business representatives to estimate and plan prioritized backlog items as a SME. Contribute to improving software engineering practices, standards, documentation, and knowledge within an Agile team. Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors Degree OR 3 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 3 years. Focus on Software Development or Programming or Testing or Automation. 5+ years of software engineering experience OR 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree. Additional Qualifications / Skills
Solid knowledge of SDLC and Agile mindset, principles, practices. Proven knowledge in one or more programming languages - Java is a MUST, Spring Boot. Ability to review programming code and identify and correct issues or discrepancies; troubleshoot defects and root cause. Solid understanding of Enterprise Software Development and maintenance. Data manipulation, comparison, and computation proficiency. Solid knowledge of testing practices and of source code management. Good knowledge of DevOps concepts; experience with modern engineering practices like TDD, BDD, ATDD. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; mentoring skills. Proficiency in IT security and secure software development; system thinking and design skills. Ability to present technical topics to small and medium-sized groups; ability to pitch ideas with pilots or proofs of value. Experience with API development and front-end exposure (e.g., React or Angular) is preferred. Preferred Experience
Hands-on experience building SOAP and REST web services and other APIs. Front-end exposure with React or Angular. Experience integrating systems and/or connecting multiple systems. Scope / Complexity
