We are seeking a Datacenter Engineer to support the IPP (Infrastructure, Process, and Planning) team. This is a W-2 full-time contract role based onsite in Santa Clara, CA. Compensation ranges from
$75/hr - $120/hr
and includes full benefits and PTO. Overview
In this role, you will lead migrations across datacenters, develop an execution plan, and drive implementation through various PICs. You will plan for maximum efficiency within the DC environment, influence bin packing with data, and ensure deployments occur within defined SLAs. What you will be doing
Handle Labs and Data Centers using DCIM tools, spreadsheets, and task-tracking tools. Collaborate with platform, sysadmin, and SRE teams to review power and space metrics and take actions to improve them. Engage with third-party support as needed. Serve as the central point of contact for DC floor issues. Coordinate with DCEO for day-to-day work and resolve critical issues with DCEO/platform/Engineering. Work on operations projects (such as monitoring, digital twin). Coordinate with DCEO/platform teams to ensure system records in internal DCIM tools are updated for each new system install or migration activity. Publish weekly status reports related to space, power utilization, and cooling. Handle access requests and track PUE and cooling statistics. Create SOPs for operations and ensure EHS compliance at all sites. Coordinate DC floor data collection for audits (e.g., equipment records, energy, ISO50001). Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in a tech-related field or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience leading DC Operations. 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration. Experience in systems planning. Good interpersonal and presentation skills. Nice to have
Visio and CAD experience for Lab R&D projects and rack management. Lab/datacenter procurement experience. Experience with PDUs and power in labs.
