We are looking for a Staff Web Engineer to join our Customer Experience application development team and contribute to the next step function growth phase. As a member of the engineering team, you will design and build systems and features from the ground up, play a big role in defining the direction of our product, and mentor other engineers. The ideal candidate will have a product-oriented mindset with a passion for technology and customer satisfaction. This role supports end-to-end mobility platforms for high throughput locations, aviation, fleet management and other use cases impacting millions of people. What you'll do
Design, implement, and maintain frontend components that make up the Metropolis parking and mobility platform. Lead the entire development lifecycle, from ideation and requirements through successful launch. Mentor senior and junior engineers, fostering best practices in UI frameworks and component libraries. Collaborate with product managers and designers to model and understand real world problems. Moderate technical discussions, evaluate new techniques, and ensure the platform evolves and improves. Leverage best practices in automation testing and deployment to enable rapid iteration and feature launches. Help build a culture where bugs and mistakes in production are treated as opportunities to improve the platform. What we're looking for
MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Strong fundamental computer science skills. 10+ years of software engineering experience. Advanced level knowledge of React and TypeScript. Experience with consuming RESTful APIs and collaborating with backend engineers. Proven track record of delivering large-scale initiatives in high-volume consumer-facing applications. Strong sense of system modeling and designing complex real-world systems. Deep understanding of Agile processes supporting the full software development lifecycle, including TDD/BDD, CI/CD and related build/test/deploy processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences. Local to Santa Monica (Los Angeles), New York City, or Seattle areas. While not required, these are a plus:
Advanced knowledge of React and TypeScript. Work experience in innovative, high-growth environments. Our Stack

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best ideas win. The anticipated base salary for this position is $200,000.00 USD to $250,000.00 USD annually. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, disability coverage, life insurance, stock options, bonuses, and more. Metropolis values in-person collaboration and maintains an office-first model, requiring employees to be on-site at least four days a week where possible. Metropolis may use automated tools to assess candidacy.
