Overview
The University of Virginia Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Division Chief for Pediatric Anesthesiology. The position requires at least 3 years in an academic faculty position as a pediatric anesthesiologist and significant leadership experience. Responsibilities
Design protocols and processes to optimize the provision of anesthesia for pediatric surgical and interventional procedures in a high-quality and efficient manner. Collaborate with nursing leadership, surgeons, and proceduralists to ensure optimal workflow where pediatric anesthesia services are offered. Develop and maintain a robust pediatric sedation service with nursing, imaging, and interventional area leadership. Address quality issues related to pediatric anesthesia. Attend more than 65% of monthly departmental leadership meetings. Lead regular division meetings (at least 6 per year) to discuss clinical, educational, academic, and community engagement opportunities. Work with the residency director and Vice Chair for Education to meet residents' educational goals and maintain a robust didactic curriculum. Mentor division faculty and report progress to the Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs and Development during reappointments and promotions. Nominate faculty for local, regional, and national awards in coordination with the Vice Chair for Faculty Development. Promote the division’s academic mission and ensure representation in national subspecialty meetings. Participate in the faculty annual evaluation process and provide feedback related to clinical care, education, research, and community engagement. Ensure billing compliance within the division and identify opportunities to maximize billing and collections. Assist in workforce modeling and recruiting to meet division needs. Collaborate with department leadership to develop a robust orientation program for new faculty. Promote ASPIRE values and foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. Qualifications
MD or equivalent degree; completed anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship. American Board of Anesthesiology certified or certification-eligible. At minimum, 3 years in an academic pediatric anesthesiology faculty position with significant leadership experience. Application Instructions
