Moss' Solar Project Engineers work in concert with the Project Manager and project team to drive and coordinate the various processes of building utility scale solar projects. They assist Project Managers with the planning and daily execution of the construction project. They are responsible for tracking all submittals and delivery of materials and the coordination of the contract documents to avoid potential conflict. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Participates in pre-construction activities by establishing document control procedures, performing quantity takeoffs, conducting site investigations, participating in value engineering, participating in constructability reviews, initiating Prolog setup, monitoring pre-construction schedules, assisting with subcontractor & vendor solicitation, assisting with development of QC plan, assisting with scope of work and bid package development, documenting pre-construction meetings, initiating permit processes, assisting with budget presentations, coordinating construction of mock-ups, and reviewing condo risk mitigation. Coordinates project start-up by reviewing the owner contract, assisting with startup checklist and site utilization plan, coordinating mobilization, assisting with subcontractor & vendor selection, identifying critical issues & milestones, finalizing Prolog setup, participating in development of construction schedule, and participating in subcontractor project orientation. Expedites materials by developing submittal logs, establishing fabrication & delivery schedules, confirming delivery of materials, conducting submittal/SD review processes, reviewing coordination drawings, monitoring off-site storage, coordinating owner-furnished materials, and verifying fabrication status. Coordinates construction activities by strategizing with the Superintendent, conducting subcontractor pre-construction meetings, maintaining activity tracking logs, participating in schedule updates, conducting quality control inspections, verifying field installations, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating storage of delivered materials, participating in daily superintendent meetings, coordinating with user groups, and assisting with agency inspections. Facilitates project administration by expediting subcontractor and vendor agreements, assisting with insurance and bond agreements, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, managing check-hold lists, maintaining jobsite files, processing progress photos, preparing project status reports, coordinating with project staff, maintaining Prolog, generating correspondence, administering RFI processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Tracks project costs by processing subcontractor and vendor pay requests, assisting with tracking owner payments, tracking subcontractor back charges, and updating labor cost reports. Manages change order process by creating change requests, reviewing scope changes, determining schedule impacts, issuing owner notifications, expediting subcontractor and vendor pricing, preparing cost proposals, and negotiating proposal costs. Supports project closeout by preparing closeout logs, participating in punch list processes, coordinating and documenting owner training, commissioning building systems, preparing O&M manuals and warranties, compiling As-Built Drawings, coordinating transfer of attic stock, completing subcontractor and vendor closeout, and demobilizing the site. Participates in personal career development by engaging in professional organizations, training programs, certifications and licenses, mentoring programs, seminars and conferences, continuing education programs, performance evaluations, and action-plan monitoring. Promotes the company by participating in community organizations, task teams, college recruiting, company activities, industry-related organizations, client presentations, recognition programs, training program development, mentoring programs, general recruiting, and core values. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and work experience

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related discipline 6 months to one-year internship experience as a project engineer or assistant project engineer in the construction industry Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with owners' representatives, A/E team, building departments, and other team members Basic finance skills
