Overview
Zurich North America is hiring a Management Liability Underwriter, D&O (Senior or AVP). We are expanding and candidates may be based in Detroit, Louisiana Virtual, Minneapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, or South Carolina Virtual. As a Management Liability Underwriter, you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for Financial Lines Products (Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Insurance) for private and nonprofit companies. This is a market-facing role requiring a strong sales mindset to proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities, identify growth opportunities, and build relationships with retail distributors (agents and brokers) and customers to support retention and new business.
Key accountabilities
Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs as appropriate. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition; work with customers and distributors to determine insurance-related needs and provide solutions. Support the organization\'s sales culture by acting as a Help Point for agents, brokers, and customers. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet the organization\'s appetite and balanced with sound business opportunities. Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Mentor team members. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications – Management Liability Underwriter-Senior: High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing areas OR 10 or more years in claims or underwriting support; or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and related experience; and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience working on time-restrained quotes for new and renewal business. Experience working in a team environment. Basic Qualifications – Management Liability Underwriter-AVP: High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing areas OR 14 or more years in claims or underwriting support; or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and related experience; and experience with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong relationship-building skills Compensation and Benefits
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by location, role, skill set, and experience. The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 - $215,000.00. The proposed salary ranges are: Senior $98,500.00 - $165,000.00 (short-term incentive eligibility 15%), AVP $130,000.00 - $215,000.00 (short-term incentive eligibility 20%).
