Position Description
The EEE Parts Component engineer is required to be hands-on and provide technical leadership in parts selection process, parts management process, parts creation and quality control. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting the development of high technology space programs. This includes all phases of product development from proposals, through design and on to production support. Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence while working closely with design engineers, supply chain, quality, and reliability engineers. The person in this position needs to have proven experience in counterfeit parts management and obsolescence management with capability to guide teams upon these activities over a lean environment. Needs to coordinate with Engineering (Project, Design, Manufacturing, etc) to ensure quality and adherence to requirements of designs. The person in this position will drive part standardization by recommending re-use of parts in the database (when appropriate to do so), will work with component manufacturers and distributors to attain their product roadmaps. He/She will be responsible for ECAD library maintenance and new parts introduction in ECAD library. He/She will also review Product Change Notices (PCNs) and GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) alerts for their impact on components used, will advise concerned teams upon such alerts and will be responsible for Data Management and Part Number Management. Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership in parts selection, parts management, parts creation and quality control for EEE components. Support development of high-technology space programs from proposals through production support. Develop component requirements, manage obsolescence, and collaborate with design, supply chain, quality, and reliability teams. Apply counterfeit parts management and obsolescence management practices in a lean environment. Coordinate with Engineering to ensure design quality and requirement adherence. Drive part standardization and collaborate with manufacturers and distributors on roadmaps. Maintain ECAD libraries and introduce new parts. Review PCNs and GIDEP alerts and communicate impacts to relevant teams. Manage data and part numbering processes. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and minimum 8 years of relevant experience; graduate degree with at least 6 years; or in lieu of a degree, minimum 12 years of related experience. Experience with component obsolescence tools and methods. Experience with end-of-life management, COTS, and counterfeit parts. Experience in setting up EDM and Parts Management practices. Understanding of EEE parts qualification and screening requirements. Knowledge of JEDEC, EIA and IPC standards and applicable military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards. Knowledge of ECMP and quality assurance practices for Electronic Component Management. Knowledge of space design requirements and processes. Knowledge of PCB CAD designs for various assurance levels and vendor capabilities. Knowledge of high-density interconnects, micro vias, BGA packaging and high-frequency electronics (RF, MMIC, high-speed digital). Experience with passive and active components, processors, memories, connectors, wires and cables, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, and lead-free control. Understanding of analysis techniques (thermal, structural, high-speed digital, impedance control). Strong configuration management and requirements traceability. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong multi-tasking and communication/documentation skills. Preferences
Experience with Microsoft Office tools. Experience with grading tools. Experience participating in PMPCB reviews, including preparing and presenting approvals for non-standard parts. Experience in failure analysis/RCCA. Experience presenting results to customers, consultants, and senior management. Design for Manufacturing and Design for Testing. Salary
Salary Range:
$102,000 - $155,000 Compliance and Benefits
