Fleet Support Engineer, Powertrain
at an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of our advanced autonomous vehicles within fleet operations. You will work with cross-functional teams, provide real-time technical support, and contribute to the optimization of powertrain systems.
Overview Your work will be at the heart of fleet operations, supporting uptime and operational readiness of EV powertrains in real-world conditions.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve complex powertrain issues impacting vehicle performance, energy consumption, or charging systems.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement interim and permanent corrective actions.
Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides for powertrain components to support field technicians.
Validate components and perform vehicle bring-up/functional verification procedures.
Tune and validate powertrain control parameters to optimize performance and efficiency.
Analyze fleet-level data to identify systematic issues and recommend preventative measures.
Support night and weekend shifts as needed, with advanced notice.
Occasionally travel to support other operational locations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering.
2+ years of experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, focusing on powertrain, energy storage, or charging systems.
Hands-on experience with EV powertrain systems (motors, inverters, BMS).
Proficiency in vehicle dynamics, control systems, and reading electrical schematics, harness diagrams, and state machines.
Experience with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) troubleshooting.
Ability to safely troubleshoot low- and high-voltage systems.
Must pass background check, MVR check, and drug screen.
Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with powertrain simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink, ADAMS).
Linux and Python programming for fleet-level data analysis.
GPS/RTS debugging and CAN bus messaging experience.
Experience remotely troubleshooting EV systems.
