Lathrop GPM, one of the nation's leading law firms, has an immediate opening for a Legal Project Manager in any of our locations with a preference for Minneapolis, MN or Kansas City, MO. This role is responsible for developing and supporting attorneys with client-facing legal projects. The Legal Project Manager will work closely with the Chief Client Officer, Sr. Pricing Manager, Client Service Manager and firm attorneys to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of legal projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction. The role involves direct client communication, coordinating teams, managing resources, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. It also plays a crucial role in cost management, risk mitigation, and process improvement within the firm. Salary information is provided in the job post: base pay range $115,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr. Responsibilities Collaborate with the Chief Client Officer, Directors of Practice Management, Director of Business Development, Sr. Pricing Manager and Client Service Manager to identify service areas, clients or attorneys who can benefit from project management support. Collaborate with attorneys and clients to scope projects and develop matter plans that identify objectives, budgets, deliverables, and timelines. Coordinate resources, including personnel, technology, and other materials, to optimize project delivery. Serve as the internal owner of the HighQ vendor relationship and oversee matter onboarding for client engagements. Track and manage matter budgets with respect to time billed, timekeeper expenses, vendor expenses and write-offs; flag out-of-scope work to improve matter efficiency. Identify resources and staffing that best align with budget proposals in collaboration with attorneys and Directors of Practice Management. Monitor matter metrics (hours worked, time billed) and report updates to the legal team on a weekly or as-needed basis. Provide organizational and analytical support to legal teams for various matters throughout engagements. Ensure timely, accurate, and professionally presented budgets and progress reports to internal stakeholders. Support and guide attorneys in post-matter reviews with internal teams or clients. Deliver elevated experiences for attorneys and clients; own issues, resolve them, and minimize effort required from attorneys and clients. Educate clients on Lathrop GPM's Legal Project Management Program; train client staff on collaborating with LPM initiatives as needed. Collaborate with the Client & Practice Innovation Team to develop project management training for attorneys and paralegals. Identify process efficiencies for client matters; train, coach and mentor the attorney team in LPM tools, methods, and best practices. Develop and present communications of LPM successes for internal communications, client pitches and RFPs. Stay abreast of trends in legal project management and share learnings with the firm as appropriate.

Requirements

Strong customer service orientation, ability to meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of law firm processes and attorney-client relationships. Knowledge of all project management phases and documentation (project plans, charters, budget estimates, risk assessments). Knowledge of law firm pricing models and applying project management to maximize efficiency and profitability. Ability to form strong, trusted relationships with attorneys and staff and be seen as a credible resource. Excellent oral and written communication with business professionals, attorneys and staff. Knowledge of business analytics and related applications used in law firms. Ability to define a project and set priorities among competing deliverables. Strategic thinker with the ability to craft solutions responsive to client and attorney needs. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong technology skills. Bachelor's degree required; JD or MBA preferred. Project or process management certification preferred (e.g., legal project management, PMP, Six Sigma). Two to five years of experience managing large projects with complex variables and budgets in a matrixed organization. Experience in a large law firm, corporate legal department, or similar service industry preferred.

Salary note:

Current anticipated salary ranges are $115,000 - $155,000 in Minneapolis, Kansas City or Chicago depending on experience and location; $120,000 - $175,000 in Washington DC and Boston. Actual salary will vary. Benefits include health care, retirement, paid time off including PTO, parental leave, and short/long term disability. Application window:
